I went for a quick vacation last December 2016 in my beloved home country, and the ticket available is via www.thaiairways.com which has 2 options.
Option 01 – stop over of 2 hours then connecting flight to Manila
Option 02 – a gap of 8 hours for a connecting flight to Manila
I was thinking if I should take the option 02 to have a quick tour na rin in Thailand, but my worries are if its worth leaving the airport then to roam around for 4 hours. Why 4 hours? We need to consider yung time to spend sa Immigration process, and an allowance of at least 2 hours before the connecting flight.
So I researched in few forum page and blog site, some says better to stay in the airport, some prefers to have quick tour.
Since, I love to explore and to try new things and the ticket cost is the same, so I chose option B nakauwi na ng Pinas, nakapasyal pa.
My flight from Dubai is 09:30PM I reached www.suvarnabhumiairport.com (Thailand)around 07:00am their local time.
OK naman ang byahe may mga nakilalang mga kababayan na umuwi din for vacation. Some of them only has 2 hours stop over but there are few as well who will go for a quick trip.
I wanted to join them sana, kaso my mood that time is to explore alone. Ganyan yata pag may hormonal imbalance minsan iba ang mood 🙂
So, upon arrival at the airport nag freshen up muna ako for a while, then I proceeded na sa Immigration counter. Filipinos don’t require a visa so doon tayo sa lane na visitor who doesn’t require a visa.
Since it is December, a vacation season of the world, the queue is a bit long it takes me an hour finishing the process. I just informed the officer that I have connecting flight as well in the same day, shown my ticket and done, 14 days allowable stay stamped in my passport without any fee.
Prior to this trip I already researched interesting place to go to, but it seems my time wouldn’t be enough and don’t want to missed my connecting flight.
In the forum page that I’m always checking I saw their input about this mall in Lat Krabang area nearby airport, (thepaseomall.com). I took taxi and reached the place for about 10-15 minutes, the taxi fare is BAHT65.00 but I need to add extra BAHT50.00 for airport taxi surcharge so I paid in total amount of BAHT115.00(AED 11.00)
I’m not that hungry as I had my snack in plane, but I wanted to rest and have coffee lang and to read book. I ordered pearl milk shake and pastries at Chao Doi Coffee shop, my total bill is (AED11.00) free WIFI is available so nag internet na din ako for a while.
Simple mall lang sya, with outdoor bazaar I’m not sure if its because of the season or talagang permanent sila doon. Madaming murang paninda, clothes, shoes, bags, Thailand memorabilla, accessories etc. and of course converting the price to AED is extremely cheap. So I bought few things, pandagdag pasalubong sa mga love ones sa Pinas & Dubai friends.
Ganun yata talaga tayong mga pinoy, we always remember special people close to our heart na bigyan sila ng mga souvenir sa mga place na napuntahan natin, kahit from province lang or minsan kung may nakita ka lang cute na bagay naalala mo ang isang particular person who might like that item for sure bibilin natin iyon.
Bible is true there is more happiness in giving than receiving.
Kaya mga kaexpat ok na yun na tayo ang magbigay kesa tayo ang binibigyan, at least napapasya natin ang mga loves natin.
I had my lunch by 11:30am as I need to leave the place maximum 12:30.
There are lot of choices, either Chinese, Japanese, Korean foods may Pizza Hut & McDonald din, but syempre I went for a Thai cuisine. Not in the restaurants, I need to try their Thai street foods, so I had Pad Thai in one of the stall. It is prepared and cooked in front of me so mainit mainit pa sya, masarap! (AED5.50) lang sya pero madami ang servings.
While eating nakipag kwentuhan ng konti sa mga local Thai people, they thought I am Thai as well, I said no I’m from Philippines and they said its OK like our sisters 🙂 They are kind and cheerful.
By 12:30pm I left Paseo Mall to catch my flight. I took taxi again, this time its more cheaper it cost me BAHT50.00 but I gave all my extra Baht currency to the driver and he is very happy.
I know it is small amount for us but for them it is something to be thankful as it is hard to earn. Kaya happy na din akong bumaba sa taxi ni Kuya.
I enjoyed my mini tour, my new discovery & exploration.
That 4 hours gave me a high light of Thailand, gives me reason to return and and this time it should be more longer and with my hubby.
Kaya kabayan for your next vacation sa atin ask na si boss ng ticket with stop over either in Thailand, Singapore, Hongkong or Malaysia yung mga free visa tayo.
Enjoy your exploration.
