Effexor Venlafaxine Philippines, where and how to buy

Venlafaxine, sold under the brand name Effexor among others, is an antidepressant medication of the serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) class. It is use to treat the major depressive disorder (MDD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder, and social phobia.

Venlafaxine was approved for medical use in the United States in 1993. It is available as a generic medication. In 2017, it was the 49th most commonly prescribe medication in the United States with more than 16 million prescriptions.

A comparative meta-analysis of 21 major antidepressants found that venlafaxine, agomelatine, amitriptyline, escitalopram, mirtazapine, paroxetine, and vortioxetine were more effective than other antidepressants. Although the quality of many comparisons was assess as low or very low.

Venlafaxine was similar in efficacy to the atypical antidepressant bupropion; however, the remission rate was lower for venlafaxine. In a double-blind study, patients who did not respond to an SSRI were switch to venlafaxine or citalopram. A similar improvement was observes in both groups.

Our Battle with Depression

My husband has been using Effexor for his treatment for a long time. Before our exit from the UAE, this is our worries; we are not sure how to continue his medication. How and where can we buy Effexor in the Philippines.

Hubby and I are aware that in our country, many still don’t understand depression or any other mental illness.

Though few people taking this seriously and trying their best to help people with depression, but mostly are ignorant on this matter.

Most have this impression; that depression is only in the mind. They simply thought that depression is like a simple stress feeling that can be cured by just relaxation and meditation. Sadly, some people underestimating the importance of drinking an antidepressant.

I am not sure why many Filipino still not giving priority to mental health, despite a lot of saddening experiences happens in the past.

Because of our above thoughts, we are worrying if we can easily find hubby’s needed medicine.

Due to the current pandemic, we had a hard time booking a physiatrist near our place. The clinic is either not yet open, or they only accept teleconsultation, which we are not comfortable yet to do for the initial approach.

We did a lot of research on the internet, trying to get information on where to buy Effexor. And if it’s possible to buy over the counter, unfortunately, we couldn’t find any topic about it.

Until we run out of medicine, I feel so guilty about why I miss monitoring our counts. Though hubby is not complaining, I know it gives him pressure and stress.

I work so hard last week doing other rounds of research, and approaching few doctors from the Facebook page. Few doctors are accommodating, but in our current situation, we cannot simply afford their rates.

I need to find an affordable clinic as this treatment is not just a one time visit. Thankfully I got good results from my hard work of research.

You might be surprise that I got the prescription without any fee. Since we have all his records and endorsement from UAE, the doctor agreed to just give us the needed prescription.

Price and Where we find it

In case any of you are not familiar, Effexor is not available in the Philippines. The counterpart is the Maxine Venlafaxine, same with Effexor you cannot buy this over the counter. You need to present a psychiatrist’s prescription, patient id, and buyer’s id, in case the patient is not present at the pharmacy.

The price of Maxine Venlafaxine is Php 2205.00 for 30 pcs, a small difference from Effexor price in UAE, which is almost Php 2610.00 a month.

Maxine Venlafaxine is available at any of the bigger Mercury or Watson’s Pharmacy.

The moment I got the prescription, we felt that this a big blessing despite many trials we are facing. I am so thankful that the Doctor who assist us is very supportive. He always replies to my chat message. We wish all the best to him.

If anyone of you is in the same situation, please never give up. There are still many people out there who can understand and help you even in a simple way.
